This was my first publication in college that made my name the Blackrose and how I became who I am today.
“Consumer Market: Alternative, Gothic, Occult & Satanic Fashion Designs” My consumer market is catered to those who have a strong appeal or interest in wearing alternative clothing. In the culture and lifestyle there is a wide variety of categories in alternative so I wanted to specifically cater to those who are into Occult, Goth, Fetish and Dominatrix and or of different religious views other than the common. What will make my collection different from a few other alternative markets such as “Hot Topic” or “Torrid” is my line will be a combination of mainly couture and a few ready to wear pieces I also will be mixing the two together. From my research alternative clothing in markets such as “Hot Topic” is expensive and made of cheap quality fabric. I want to make alternative clothing that is eye catching and breathtaking but with well made fabrics with lots of detail, texture and structure. What will make my collection different from other alternative markets is I will be adding satanic imagery and occult symbols to some of my pieces along with a few personal stories of my life in poetry form in my work. What made me personally want to cater to this market is I would like to break the stereotype as an African American that alternative clothing shouldn’t be stereotyped to one particular race. I also want to be recognized as one of the first few African Americans that is a well-known Satanist and designer. I hope to break religious barriers that all African Americans must be Christian since most are programed to believe that’s what they have to be since birth from family tradition or traits. My market will be catered to those of all religious backgrounds but specifically those not of the common. Designer: Christopher Lincoln/ Blackrose’
